Everything you need to know before buying the Elsa Beskow 40cl mug set, including capacity, design details, and who it's best for.
Quick answer
The Elsa Beskow Mug 40cl set of 6 is a charming, generously sized mug collection featuring illustrations from the beloved children's author. It's ideal for those who value storytelling in design and want a larger daily mug, but may not suit minimalist or uniform-table settings.
Capacity and size considerations
Each mug holds 40cl (400ml), which is larger than a standard teacup or coffee mug. This makes it suitable for generous servings of coffee, tea, or even soup, but it may feel bulky for small hands or tight cupboards.
Design and illustration details
The set features Catharina Kippel's interpretation of Elsa Beskow's whimsical nature scenes, with humorous and endearing motifs. Each mug in the set shows a different illustration, so your collection will have variety. The designs are printed on ceramic and are microwave and dishwasher safe for everyday use.
Decision rules
- Check your mug size preference: If you usually drink from standard 250ml mugs, the 40cl size will feel noticeably larger. Measure your current mug height and diameter against the 40cl standard to ensure it fits your hand and cabinet.
- Consider the illustration variety: Since each mug shows a different Elsa Beskow scene, this set works best if you enjoy mismatched, story-rich tableware. If you prefer all mugs to look identical, this set may not suit you. Tip: Use the mugs as conversation starters at brunch or as a gift for a literary-themed kitchen.
- Evaluate care and durability: The mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe, so they are practical for daily use. However, the printed illustrations may fade over many cycles; hand washing can preserve the artwork longer.
